This CD is an exceptional night caught on tape. Alligator Stew shows sides of themselves thru their own songs and also sides of where they've come from thru passionate version of CCR's "Green River & Susie Q" and Bob Seger's "Turn the Page"
The CD is a LIVE night in a partying Midwest town, Monticello Indiana, The energy from the crowd was magical and fueled a Smokin' set from the Band! As you listen, you can close your eyes and feel the hot, humid atmosphere and you can almost taste the ice cold beer. No pretense, just music and people! The basic core of everyone of us. Turn this CD up and feel yourself in the crowd and in the music!!!

    Monticello is a sothern rock masterpiece. Starting with the toe tappin Louisiana Man this cd ploughs through 11 live tracks and 4 studio gems. Highlights include: The swampy blusey Shiner,( a great story song ), The foot stompin I Know You Too Well, the soon to be a huge hit Blood Money, and closes with Far Beneath the Rubble, a Gary Jeffries solo gem. Gary, Doug, TC, Chris, and John have put together a high energy must have Cd for any southern rock fan.

    Atmospheric or what! Have now played this CD about 10 times since I got it recently. Blood money is a classic...Shiner is a real swampy mood setter...not often get a CD where every song is worth listening to, but this albulm has it all. Its a pity we don't get more like this over here in England. Looking forward to the next albulm.

    What a fantastic CD! This is truly one of the best live recordings. The music, the crowd, the atmosphere – perfect! They’re hot right from the start with Louisiana Man – and you know they’re having as much fun playing as the crowd is hearing them. Shiner – what can I say…boys, I just wanna dance to this one! Two Wheels and You Gotta Give are my other favorites. These guys sound great on this – but they are even better in person. Knowing Gary and knowing some of the stories to these songs make them even better. Love ya’ Gary! Love ya’ Stew!!

    Whether you like Southern rock, crossover contemporary country, or bar room brawlin tunes, this one's got it all. Many styles and influences throughout, CDB/Brooks n Dunn/38 Special/Skynyrd/Tom Hambridge/Lil Ceasar/Outlaws to name a few, but all pure Alligator Stew. The CCR and Seger covers are great, and thanks to Gary's voice they have a grittier feel to them. In heavy rotation on the home player.

    Holly Cow!!!!!! These guys really make you want to get up and party. I saw these guys live a month or two ago in Los Angeles. I had the best time watching them play. Made me want to get up and dance. (Trust me thats not a pretty site to see) So after I heard them I knew I needed hear more of there music.     If you like Southern rock and need something fresh, this is it, even if these guys ain't Southern. Monticello is well north of the Mason-Dixon line but the heart of this sound is well south of it. Dig it. You will listen to this CD again and again. Good stuff.
