notes

Raised on the musical shoulders of artists such as Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, Syd Barrett and Elliott Smith, Amit Erez writes songs of intimacy and emotion, using mainly an acoustic guitar.

His independent debut release "Wish I could make it a story" (2003) contains some of his home recordings made during the years 1998-2001, partly at home and partly at studios.

That way, with almost no production to hide behind, Amit confronts the listener with brilliant guitar work, complex chord structures, captivating melodies and imaginative lyrics. Although it requires more than few listenings to get inside your head, this album is promised to capture your heart, your mind, and your most personal moments.

A paragraph written on Amit on the Israeli internet magazine "YNET" says:
"Amit Erez re-creates English folk-rock from the 70's. Could have been a pathetic try, but Amit is saved by his magnificent acoustic guitar playing (the only instrument to accompany him), and his soft modest voice that is full of expression. The compositions themselves also reveal a stunning musical abilty, with great potential.
Just like one of his song titles - Clever and Strong !".

I’ve heard quite a lot of young acoustic artists, but first listening to Amit’s musical work of art instantly shows the whole difference. More than everything, it’s his modest WAY of saying things. It is this way of putting things that makes you both feel its real authentics and identifing with it at the same time. It would be almost as a crime to relate to only one specific song, since it just sounds like the guitar actually communicate with vocals and lyrics – the term ‘Harmony’ is awarded with another kind of meaning in this album. So when one’s looking for a special kind of experience (I don’t think I can call it just simple listening), Amit Erez’s “Wish I Could Make It A Story” provides exactly that melodic, a bit quiter and simple soundtrack to your thoughts.
