notes
Amy Fairchild's latest release, Amy Fairchild Live, is now available! The tracks were selected from 4 shows in 2003 and include full band and solo acoustic numbers. In addition to most of the songs from her critically acclaimed 2002 release Mr. Heart, listeners will find four new previously unrecorded tracks and one from her first CD She's Not Herself.
The band features the producer of Mr. Heart and the Live CD, Adam Steinberg (Dixie Chicks, Patty Griffith, Todd Thibaud) on electric guitar, legendary drummer Dave Mattacks (Elton John, Paul McCartney, Richard Thompson, Mary Chapin Carpenter to name a few) and well known bassist and popular session player from Boston, Jeff St Pierre (Todd Thibaud, Barbara Kessler). Guitarist Matty Cullen from The Ware River Club also appears on the record.
The tracks were taken from 4 shows including band shows at Meadowbrook Farms in Guilford NH when Amy opened for Pat Benatar, Joyous Lake in Woodstock NY (a show broadcast live over the air on WDST-FM), a Hot Air Balloon Festival at Balsam Shade Resort in the Catskills and 4 solo acoustic tracks recorded at the Turning Point in Piermont NY. The tracks from the Turning Point were added at the request of fans who wanted to hear some of their favorite band songs stripped down and as they were originally written.
2003 was a watershed year in Fairchild's career, which included winning the Maxell Song of the Year from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest ($20,000.00 cash prize and numerous other merchandise awards) for Falling Down, included on the Live CD with both band and solo acoustic versions. She also won Grand Prize in the Country/Folk Category of the Billboard Songwriting Contest for Tuesday, her critically acclaimed song about 9/11, and was nominated for 2 Boston Music Awards, Best Female Singer/Songwriter and Best Female Vocalist. She also toured extensively, appearing at important venues up and down the east coast including the Birchmere in Alexandria VA, Irving Plaza in NYC and the Paradise Rock Club in Boston.

Amy Fairchild IS the standard
author: James ThomsenAfter having a friend play Amy Fairchild Live for me, I quickly came to realize I literally could not do without a copy for myself, so I wilfully succumbed to her professional charms and ordered my OWN copy of Amy Fairchild Live. As for the disc itself, it's perfect in every way, plain and simple. When listening to any new artist for the first time, it's only natural to try to compare them to an existing artist as a point of reference: "THIS singer sort of sounds like Bono... THAT guitarist plays a little like Bonnie Raitt... ." With Amy Fairchild, you just can't DO that- she's the standard that most of her contemporaties should be compared to instead.
One of the Best of '03
author: Doug TabnerNot only is this one of the best discs of 2003, it's one of the best discs to come down the pike in a long time. Exquisitely crafted lyrics, solid musicianship and beautiful vocals make nearly every track a highlight. When the major labels figure out what the rest of her fans and I already know, she will be wildly popular, and deservedly so.
Amy Fairchild is for real!
