notes

With haunting, emotionally charged music, Arlington Priest is a duo that defies classification. Combining hints of Americana with contemporary folk and influences ranging from classical vocal training to rock bands and theatrical productions, in the end it really comes down to one word: harmony.

***************

You could start with the name. Depending on which day you ask, it’s an image of spiritual longing, a union of names, or just two words placed side by side. The name, like the music, is open for interpretation. With influences ranging from classical, to rock, to folk and combining accomplished musicianship with a lyrical style that pines for answers and acceptance Arlington Priest is a duo that defies classification.

Comprised of husband-wife team, Rhett and Jill McAllister, Arlington Priest brings together Rhett’s heartfelt tenor and intense guitar accompaniment with Jill’s dynamic, soulful range to create a musical blend that is the very definition of synergy: the whole transcending the sum of its parts.

On stage, their chemistry is undeniable—confident while remaining genuine and unassuming. Their affection for one another is so obvious, that anyone who sees them play feels a part of something truly special.

They have already opened for and shared the stage with nationally renowned artists like Darrell Scott, HEM, Tres Chicas, Kristin Hall, The Floating Men, Eric Johnson, Great Big Sea and Ellis Paul, as well as up-and-comers like Joe Rathbone, the drexlers, Brother Henry and The Brilliant Inventions. Not to mention that they are regular performers at Southeast landmark venues like Smith's Olde Bar, Eddie's Attic, the Red Light Cafe and The Evening Muse.

If you’re looking for a formulaic sound or glossy image that’s easy to fit in a specific genre, this isn’t the music for you. But if you’re looking with music with heart, music that really means something, look no further than Arlington Priest.

  • Terrific

The acoustic live version of Arlington Priest - shows off Rhett's tasty guitar playing and Jill's awesome voice in their natural habitat. Great songs, real passion and the intimacy of a small venue. You can't go far wrong.

The sounds are great as "background music" to life, but get even better when you listen to the words. I listen to this CD over and over.

  • Beautiful songs.

I love these guys. I hear influences of Dar Williams, Bonnie Raitt, and David Wilcox all wrapped up into this unique duo. Its especially nice "driving" music for your car. They can stir up some memories you never knew existed. LOVE THEM! BUY THIS ALBUM!!! I can't wait for the next one. But I will have to.

This CD does a great job of capturing Jill and Rhett's humor and storytelling as well as their beautiful, acoustic sound. All of their songs are soulful and original- you'll appreciate them even if you aren't a fan of folk music.

  • Amazing talent and great personalities

I attended the Eddie's Attic CD release show and was fortunate to see Arlington Priest open up for Brother Henry (another awesome group, btw). Jill and Rhett are amazing musicians and songwriters and display a unique sound that you'll have to hear for yourself. Their tunes are full of great emotion that pulls you in as if you've lived what they sing about. It doesn't take long to realize you've become a fan.

I've seen these guys play around Atlanta quite a bit, and if you can't make it to one of their awesome live shows then you MUST buy this CD. It's the next best thing to being there!! ;-) If you like amazing harmonies, poetic songs about real lives, powerhouse vocals and wonderful acoustic guitar playing -- not to mention stellar songwriting -- then this is the disc for you. Emotional, beautiful and unforgettable.
