Cecilia Lemon

Since the age of 16, Cecilia Lemon-Rice has been laboring in love with church music! She started singing at 5 years old and playing the piano shortly thereafter. Her first church pianist job came looking for her from a church on the street where she lived and she's been teaching and playing ever since. Churches throughout Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee have been her training ground, where she has worked with many gifted singers, writers, musicians and several annointed preachers of the gospel. While in her hometown of Columbus, Mississippi, she heard the call from the late Frank Williams to become one of the original members of the now world-famous "Mississippi Mass Choir". She was selected the first Vice-President of the choir and soloist on "Be Still" from the project "God Gets the Glory" and "In Spite Of" from the "It Remains to be Seen" project. She was fortunate enough to make the first trip to Japan with the choir, along with many other cities in the country. While with the choir, she has performed with many gospel legends and artists such as Kirk Franklin, Rev. John P. Kee, the late Rev. James Moore and Rev. Timothy Wright, Vanessa Bell, Vickie Winans, Edwin and the late Walter Hawkins, Daryl Coley, Rev. Milton Biggham, and the late Rev. James Cleveland and Albertina Walker. Through traveling with the choir, she grew to love quartet music firsthand, being on the road with The Williams Brothers, The Jackson Southernaires, Lee Williams & the Spiritual QCs and The Canton Spirituals. The list could go on, but through the course of time, she began to write music that was inspired by the Holy Spirit, often while on the road with the choir. Frank Williams, upon hearing the title song "Just4Me" asked, "What do you want to do with this?" She replied, I want to do what you do - work with choirs and write for artists so that my music could be heard ." Frank said, "Well if that's what you want to do, then you've got to do your own project. When people hear what you've done and produced and they like it, then they'll ask you to write and work with them!" And that's what she did. With help from members of MMC Allen Golden and Sam Scott, she formed the group "Unbroken" that provided the vocal support to complete this project. Special thanks goes to PhaShun King, the United Christian Baptist Church, Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Rev. Waldo and Lillian Lilly for their willingness to help whenever it was needed. Cecilia is now married to Rev. Michael D. Rice. She is a member of the St. James M.B. Church, whose pastor is Dr. George T. Brooks, and she resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
