Clive Barratt, is a pop-rock-artist and songwriter, living in Chilliwack, British Columbia. He is close to completing his debut album "WALL of STORMS" which should be ready for release in Spring, 2013.
Wall of Storms is being recorded and mastered at Marpole Recording Studio in Langley, British Columbia, by talented producer Rob Begg, The album is funded through generous contributions made by fans and supporters at SELLABAND, a crowd-funding company based in Germany.
Clive wrote the lyrics and music for all 10 songs on the album, but gives credit to his wife Carol, for contributing some great lyrical ideas and inspiration. On various songs, Clive sings both lead and some of his own background vocals, plays harmonica, 12 and 6-string acoustic guitars, lead, slide and bass guitars, tambourine and piano.
Musicians joining Clive on WALL OF STORMS include Rob Begg, drummers Rogé Belanger, and Clive's brother Gary Barratt, bass player Bill Patterson and vocalist Lisa Adrianne.
Rob Begg, besides doing the production work, is also a gifted multi-instrumentalist. He plays lead guitar, bass, keyboards and sings background vocals on several songs
Drums and background vocals on "Tonight You're Going Out" are courtesy of the late Rogé Belanger, who passed away on 27 September 2012, before the album could be finished. Rogé spent 15 years touring with Canadian rock icon Randy Bachman, as Bachman's drummer and back-up vocalist. Rogé's distinctive and beautiful harmonies will also be heard on the Clive's punchy song "Dance The Night Away".
Gary Barratt, (a.k.a. "Doctor Drums"), originally from England, now based in Kingston, Ontario, plays the tight drum tracks heard on "Dance The Night Away". With over 40 years of drumming experience in pretty well every genre you can think of, including orchestrial, Gary could stand up against any drummer in the world. Gary has worked all over the British Isles, in mainland Europe, Ireland, Canada and the USA.
Lisa Adrianne, a gifted, experienced and delightful singer from Yarrow, British Columbia adds a nice touch to "I Miss You" and several other songs on this album.
Bill Patterson is a solid bassist from Vancouver, BC, with live gig and studio experience. Several bass guitar tracks are played by Bill, many with a McCartney-esque style.
"My objective", Clive says, "is to make a CD of lyrically intrigueing songs laced with diverse musical influences. I want these to be songs which fans will still be singing to themselves long after the stereo, MP3 player or radio has been turned off".
In September 2011, TONIGHT YOU'RE GOING OUT was voted Song of the Week on TALENTCAST, a European, weekly, radio show, featuring original music of artists from around the world. Visit www.talentcast.nl and select archived show 2011-09-10 and 2011-09-17 to hear the two shows featuring Tonight You're Going Out. His home-made demo versions of DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY and I'M WITHOUT YOU have also made Song of the Week on TalentCast.
Clive got his first guitar at the age of 12, had basic music training in high schools in the UK and Canada and wrote his first song at the age of 16. He has written over 55 songs in a variety of styles including rock, contemporary pop, folk-rock, blues-rock, country-rock, gospel and instrumental. Knowing that versatility is an invaluable trait, Clive performs solo, duet, trio or full band gigs on a casual basis, in between his regular work as an airline pilot.
Clive admits that he has his head in the clouds much of the time, being a pilot but says the creative world of music is his escape from the fatigue and stress of a demanding aviation career.
