BIOGRAPHY
From Sydney, Australia Comes MACHINISO...
The brainchild of drummer, percussionist and digital artist RichMachine, Machiniso has its roots
in experimental, cinematic, jazz and electronic music. Having a DVD and CD release to date, the
new four song EP is now completed and features Anne-Lise Larsen on vocals.
The addition of Anne-Lise to Machiniso's rhythmn and vibraphone combo takes this acoustic
band to a new level of sofistication. As a solo artist, Anne-Lise's song writing skills have
redefined Machiniso's sexy, sultry and sometimes noirish flavour. Her skills don't end there. She
is also a professionally trained cellist and who knows, the band's Hollywood element may soon
include the 'strings of suspense' at a later date.
On bass, Scott Leishman - With years of experience as a guitarist playing with Jacky Orzasky,
Tina Harrod and a number of diverse Sydney acts, Scott is not only a solid and depndable live
player, but an original contributer to the band's studio projects showing his ability to adapt to any
situation.
Celestial Dave Smith on Vibraphone - With ensemble, big band and electronic projects under his
belt, Dave is a music teacher and improv master supplying backing vibes and percussion for
poets and performance artists. The sonic qualities of his tuned percussion give Machiniso its
trademark sound of exotica. Dave has also teamed up with RicMachine and Mark Island for a number of live and studio sessions over 12 years of collaboration.
The MACHINISO quartet are ready to play. As a support or headline act, this group's original
sound is influenced by world music, jazz, popular culture and cinema. Backing up the original
material are a variety of funky, swingin' and groovy jazz standards.
Consider Machiniso Sydney's freshest, new combo.
