Senopia are a space-opera-ing, electro-rocking, glitch-loving female-fronted band from London, formed in 2009
Singer Pia is a Swedish-speaking Finn unable to understand most of her countryfolk; bassist and programmer Andrew lives on a diet of rice, wheat-based cereal and green bananas, and nothing else; guitarist Rich delights in performing interpretive dancing to the band's songs during gigs and can recite all the words to Enya's Orinoco Flow; while Austrian drummer David is a nomad who enjoys a spot of lumberjacking in alpine forests on his days off from music.
Ok, only some of those are true, but we'll leave that for you to decide.
Their debut LP, Modern Squalor is available to download from CDBaby, iTunes and other online record stores that are available. The CD version is released on June 9th and available to pre-order at www.senopiamusic.com. Mixed by Donald Clark (Muse/Guns N' Roses/Noah and the Whale) and mastered by grammy-nominated Mandy Parnell (Bjork/The XX/Sigur Ros), the album deals with issues of life, love, greed, terrible forest-based disturbances and Earth-destroying supermassive black holes.
