Paul Garfinkel

For the last 20 years Paul has been on of Florida’s best, and most elusive, singer-songwriters. With five awards from the Will McLean Foundation, including first place in 2000 for his tune “The Creek” and selection as a finalist in the South Florida Folk Festival’s national songwriting competition, Paul has earned a reputation as a Florida original. His music includes pure contemporary folk and Americana with a hint of bluegrass thrown in just for kicks. He released his first solo CD in 1996 (Good Enough For Me), which was named a top-5 indie release that year. For the last 13 years he has been a member of The Ashley Gang, one of Florida’s most sought after acoustic bands, disappearing occasionally to chase his private muses. Now, after 15 years, Paul is releasing his second solo CD, “Songs From Sand Lake”, containing 12 new original songs. His graduate studies in science and philosphy have provided a foundation for his intelligent and thoughtful lyrics and melodies. As a certified Florida Master Naturalist, Paul’s passion for conservation and environmentalism informs his writing and his purpose. A portion of all sales of “Songs From Sand Lake” will be donated to the St. Johns Riverkeeper, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Florida’s historic Saint Johns River.
Inside or outside of Florida, if you have the chance to hear Paul, make sure you do. He just might disappear again…
