notes

Formed in 1994 as a four piece guitar-based rock outfit, BEDROCK have thrived over the years since then. Living in an isolated hamlet in the Namib Desert they ply their trade up and down the Namibian and South African west coasts, gigging consistently. They have released three albums to date - the first was a collection of covers and the next two contained only original material written by the band members themselves.

The opening track of their second album, "Rock 'n Roll Man", was placed in the South African Rock Digest's Top Twenty of South African music for three weeks during August - September, 2001. The band trade on the fact that they are "geriatrics" and are part-time musicians with no illusions of a career change at this stage of their lives! The approach to their music is, however, fully professional and their original compositions are skilfully crafted whilst reflecting the many influences of their favourite "big name" artists. Their aim is to make friends and to spread the feelgood factor with good music, humour and a positive approach to life. The band have their own web site at: www.bedrockband.com

  • This album rocks!

I've never been a big fan of African Rock and Roll. In fact I can honestly say that I've never heard an African rock band did too much for me. After listening to Bedrock's new album, all I can say is, "If this is what music is like in Namibia, send me to the desert."
