I'm Bob Applegate and I admit it - I am a geezer.
A lifelong Midwesterner, my desire to play guitar and sing has led to many wonderful times with family, friends and fans. From my home base in Peoria, Illinois, I've been fortunate to meet and perform with many fine musicians as they passed though my acoustic guitar shop in the late 70s and early 80s. Some opened for my band, and we have opened for many others. I've performed in Coffeehouses and Concerts as a band leader for 30 years and as a soloist for even longer.
Through a variety of related professions I have been fortunate to maintain a core of great musical friends, many still performing with me after over 20 years and it's been a great time for ourselves and for our audiences. However, I travel less than I used to as work and life requires more of my time - so it seems fitting that I share this music in recorded form. It's my hope that someday we will cross paths in a concert or coffeehouse setting, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy listening to Applegeezer.
Special thanks to my musical friends represented on this recording, notably Suzy Bogguss and Dan Jenks. Also kudos go to the writers of the non original material which I am happy to keep alive through performance and recording. Some of my favorite folk material comes from these writers and this recording could not be released without the licensing of their works. Thic cd is a pleasure

A finger-picking showcase
author: David BerchtoldHere's one of those CDs that makes you wonder "Why am I not hearing this guy on the radio??" Simply put this is an absolutely wonderful showcase of finger-picked acoustic guitar. Recording quality is top-notch, and Bob's voice is, well, let's just say I wish I could sing like that. Buy this CD. You won't be disappointed.
