notes
Here it is, 14 Songs from Walker, and the group of New Yorkers known as The Brotherhood of the Grape. Walker the former singer/songwriter of the critically acclaimed alternative/rock band Q-south has assembled a beautiful collection of songs.
This is his first release on Into the Whip Records since becoming the only Rock/Soca singer in the world. The music is an amazing combination of passionate vocals and beautiful melodies. It sounds like a soul singer from the 1960's having an argument with the angel and devil perched on Charles Bukowski's shoulders.
Check out the the Christmas classic "Bar-Humbug" and "The One and Lonely" from Walker and the Brotherhood of the Grape on Into the Whip Records!

It gets better with time
author: Charles the 2ndThis C.D. gets better with time, I sat back last night and listened to it from beginning to end. Bribing the Karma Police is smart music. It is time for a new C.D. it has been over a year.
Salute
author: Ron ZIf Bukowski's life were a song..it would be you!! salute to the best songwriter in the biz!!
Australia.....Brotherhood
author: T.E."The brotherhood of the grape! You see them in every village, these old rascals, loafing outside the cafes, drinking wine and sighing after every passing skirt."
What is wrong with the world we live in?
author: ChristineThis man makes music I would swear to God just for me. The Wait is an oasis for the love starved. The Brotherhood of the Grape is my music, leave it alone. What is wrong with the world we live in? James Blunt plays a 2000 seat theatre and Walker is in the front room at Grape Street?
I am a grape nut!
author: Dave MooreI first heard Walker sing in 1995 and I still can't figure out why he has not sold 100 million C.D's I feel like he is talking to me when I listen to these songs. I loved Q-South now I am a grape nut.
A fadded sight of a new Q-STEALTH
author: BIG LOU formerly of HB and now in NB CAThe music on this CD is like Gypsy Kings Mixed with a Lonely Jazz musicians heart and a little bit of ecstacy thrown into a crock pot boiled to perfection. I've been looking for a replacement for Q-SOUTH and i have finally found it. And thanks for all the memories of going to bars and seeing QSOUTH in NYC when i was younger.
Steal a copy if you have to!
author: Henry ChinaskiHere is a new punk, Songs, performed and sung with intensity and passion. The idea of Modern music as shocking, viscious and heavy has been completely over-done, the only radical idea is stripping music back to the essentials. This is it.Steal a copy if you have to!
Great Fucking Album
author: Larry VastaI'm hooked on this CD! It's a Mature sounding Q South. I Can't wait for the new album.
i go coo coo go nuts, for walker's stuffs
author: Desmond Ivor the depriverlike, oh my gosh, this cd is flippin radical beyond all recognition of the actual meaning of radical...i love walker's voice and stylings, he is almost as good as me!lol..j/k..i love this band and the whole concept behind them..they truly are musical wizards that can be fun or fractionally obscure..one love..more fire for dem buwoys..light it up and sit back and conjure up some maniacal thoughts about the friction of heart and soul, that lies beneath the understructure of the rudiments of this band....go nuts!!!!
As irresistible as a ’97 Napa Cab
author: Billy DAlmost Homeless is an engaging first offering from Walker and a cast of South Queens bar band all-stars. Walker and Ed Klinger his primary collaborator have been fixtures on the NY music scene since the formation of their seminal alt-rock band Q-South in the 90’s. This disc reveals a more mature writing style which manages to be comforting and edgy at the same time. The lyrics weave a tapestry of love, loss, hope, and hate. The melodies are engaging, with harmonies on several tunes that would make Lennon and McCartney proud. The fourth cut “What Went Wrong” has a 60’s soul pop hook that is so infectious you’ll find yourself humming it in the shower. “Vacilador” (Steinbeck reference??) is an upbeat pop tune that will keep your feet tapping. “What About Now” paints lyrical visions not unlike a Hemmingway novel. It’s been a while since I’ve encountered a CD that never seems to get tired. Almost Homeless has broken the one hit disc trend of recent pop music. It’s thoroughly enjoyable from the moment you draw the cork, until its crisp finish. Do yourself a favor, and pick up this disc, it will not disappoint.
It is about time someone from this generation had the gumption
author: Thaddeus K. SchneiderI was walking dowtown one miserable snowy evening and I heard a voice rumbeling down the street that would make Greg Allman run back to Cher.It was Walker and the Brotherhood of the grape.I got dragged in like getting dragged off the gong show. The lyrics and music make you either want to make love to a women or strangle her,get married or carve your heart out, invest in health plan,or hit the road having only this cd on your person.Look out America their are new legends in town.Yoko might be stalking.
A Pleasant Trip Into the Soul of REAL Music
author: MikeyBThanks to Walker & the Brotherhood of the Grape for getting back to basics & letting us remeber what real & true music is all about. Not another spinoff of a spinoff band just great moving music that tansecnds us to a great place! Thanks
Can't stop playing it
author: LolaIt's so rare to find a cd that you can play from beginning to end without skipping a single song. With Almost Homeless, I can not only listen to every single track, but I can play it over and over again without ever getting bored. Walker's voice is unique, beautiful and gut-wrenching at times. The lyrics are clever, true and so easy to relate to, you could swear he's singing from your own heart. I love this album like mad.
A first class collection of songs carried through with skillfull musicianship an
author: GearyAt a time when corporate America continues to further its stranglehold on radio stations throughout the country and the major record labels insist on creating stars through phony overproduced albums (Creed, Justin Timberlake, Sugar Ray, J-Lo ect.) Walker and the Brotherhood Of The Grape release a collection of songs on “Almost Homeless” that just may be able to save your faith in modern music. This album contains records with more soul than Van Morrison has utilized since the Johnson administration. If Mick Jagger hears “Almost Homeless” he would be absolutely ashamed of himself. The Brotherhood's musicianship is excellent and makes brilliant use of the steel drum on two tracks. All in all, this is a first class collection of songs carried through with skillful musicianship and thoughtful lyrics. There is a reason why “Almost Homeless” garnered 3 Stars in a review by a major New York City newspaper. Due yourself a favor and support this artist.
Great C.D. best one I bought this year! At last someone for me!
author: GamegooseWalker's C.D. will touch you deeply if you have lived even one day of sadness, His voice sooths you as the melodies protect you. I can't think of a better C.D this year.
