notes
Brian Gari is best known for his pop oriented albums. His salute to Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys caught the attention of fans worldwide. This new release has a Brazilian theme with a nod to his heroes Joao Gilberto and Kenny Rankin. It features two previously unrecorded Don Ciccone compositions. Ciccone is best remembered for writing and singing his bossa nova-influenced hit MR. DIEINGLY SAD with the 60s group The Critters. Most of the album's songs are by Gari himself with several Portuguese translations by the legendary Mayuto Correa. The arrangements feature the guitar with appropriate orchestrations a la Jobim and Gilberto.

Who Knew?
author: Kenny MorseWho knew that Brian Gari was the "Jobim" of West End Avenue? ONLY Brian can take his signature style and turn it into 60's Bossa Nova with arrangements that would make Nelson Riddle jealous. And.....who else can get BING BING BING in the same song as the word ISSAQUAH and make it work? Only Brian. He's the best at what he does. Enjoyable listening is sooooo welcome these days in the music biz, where most of it is noise. Good work Brian.

Compliments for this cd? Did Newcastle run out of coal?
Delightful!
author: Lucille SegalThis is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable CD's I've heard in a long time. I've always liked Brian Gari's work, but his bossa nova interpretations came as a lovely surprise.
Here I Come Brazil is a first rate cd from Brian Gari.
author: Roger NicholsHere I Come Brazil is a first rate CD from the multi-talented singer-songwriter Brian Gari. The musical tracks and arrangements are solid and his great and unusual vocals go from the intimate solo voice, to the large group sound and everything in between. Once you have heard Brian you will always recognize his unusual voice. His songs are classy . . . and I especially like 'It's Not As Easy As I Thought', 'One Dying Flower' and 'Forget About Michael'. This CD is truly a musical pleasure.
Brian's enchanting CD surely captures the Brazilian sound like no other can!
author: Jack CiaramellaBeing a follower of Brian's music for some time now, I've grown to appreciate his brilliant lyrics and smooth style and expression. His songs strongly touch upon the subject at hand. His music consistently comes straight from the heart. That's why it's no surprise that the CD HERE I COME BRAZIL will truly be loved by those who enjoy Brazilian sounds as well as those hearing this type of music for the first time. Brian's life time admiration for this music warmly comes across in such a smooth and comforting way throughout each and every one of the 14 selections. I'm glad to have had the experience of hearing such a fine arrangement. It's great to know that the Brazilian influence and love for this music that captured Brian's heart didn't go to waste. Instead it came to life and now the world could share in this fine musical tribute. Thanks Mr. Gari.
Brian's tremendous songwriting talents parlay into this Brazilian treat
author: Michelle MalikBrian's tremendous songwriting talents parlay into this Brazilian treat with tender ballads, Here I Come Brazil and Everybody Looks Like Her. His vocals shine to the silky strains of dreamy dedications to objects of love in The Girl from Issaquah, Chocolate Eyes, and Hard to Stay Away, among many other gems. I highly recommend this album to any fan of romance!
Brian Gari's latest CD is AMAZING!!!
author: John RuggieroBrian Gari's latest musical exploration into the sounds and rhythms of Brazilian music is an unexpected delight from this amazingly talented artist. Having been a fan of his music for a long time, and knowing the extent of his amazing gifts, I was blown away by the passion and musical expertise invested in his latest work. All of the tracks are winners manifesting Brian Gari's unique take on a musical style that was previously unknown to me. He truly deserves to be heard by a wider audience, who would quickly become lifelong fans as I have. BRAVO BRIAN!!!!!!
grammy-voters take note - ...musical magic here.
author: michael eisenberg"Here I Come Brazil" is track-to-track listening pleasure. My first reaction was that I was being treated to "Here I come, from Brazil," which is to say, the authentic item from one who was born and bred on the Bossa Nova. But a little research revealed that Brian Gari is a native of Manhattan, where he has always lived. I don't know how he absorbed the rhythms and cadences of this unique music, but he's done that and one better, put a personal stamp on it that makes it all the more uniquely his own. Grammy-voters take note - someone reached deep inside himself and came up with musical magic here.
Spend a comfortable Sunday afternoon listening to this album.
author: Larry ChernoffI just picked up Brian's Here I Come Brazil CD (I'm a fan from way back) and spent all Sunday listening to his unique interpretation of the Brazilian sound. Brian’s romantic inclinations are perfectly suited to Antonio Carlos Jobim’s legacy of dulcet rhythms, and do justice to an American’s journey into that wondrous sound. I love, in particular, Everybody Looks Like Her. This is pure Brian Gari, and I found myself replaying it several times reminded of the girl that got away. Ain’t love a pain? Brian knows it.

Hi, I just sent a review in (which you now feature). However, I screwed up on the STARS! Could you change it to read 5 stars, Thanks

Brian Gari shows the breadth and scope of his work by adding this Brazilian CD to his repertoire. Those who know his work will love how his music has evolved, and for those who are new to the genius of Mr. Gari, you'll be delighted as you hear the syncopating rhythms here and, hopefully, be inspired to listen to his other works. As always, the wonderful lyrics and musical hooks make one want to listen again and again.

A freind of mine turned me on to this album and I haven't stopped playing it since. The music is great and the lyrics are even better. Thank you Mr. Gari, for hours of pleasure!

I've always enjoyed Brian's musical sensibilities. I, like Brian, have always loved the work of Jimmy Webb and Brian Wilson, and while I never really knew much about Brazilian music, I figured if it was good enough for Brian Gari, it might be good enough for me too. This cd is a revelation. Loads of great tunes done in an easy going style thet begs repeated listening. Extremely well executed, my guess is that this disc could make a Brazilian music fan of anyone who listens.
Touches every part of your senses. Moves every emotion.
author: Neil SheppardWhen a friend asked me to check out the Brian Gari CD I had no idea that I'd find one of my songs on it. Actually until I heard it I didn't realize it was one of mine, because mine was called "Forget About Mary". In any case from the moment I heard the first song on the CD I was captivated. It is obvious - a lot of hard work went into this project and it was not a thrown together CD. Each song touches a mood with a certain flavor. It's like a 14 course gourmet meal for the ears & heart. I always know when I get goose bumps it's the real thing!, and while I usually have a good chuckle listening to American artists trying to portray good Brazilian music I was dead serious about this one. Brian Gari My hat is off to you. Thank you for bringing my old tune to life and with Leslie Millers angelic voice in the background (she did the demo years ago)the song sounds so at home with you. It was like a visit to a swpecial place, that I rarely get to go to anymore. The orchestrations by Jeff Olmstead were masterful, in short I wish that more music like this was being played and recognized in our new world of disposable music, and artists. A little good taste really stands out with everything that is out there. You really moved me with this one. Sincerely Neil Sheppard and
The soothing sounds of Brazil!
author: Amanda Abel, Laughing Shmoopie EntertainmentBrian Gari has recorded the ultimately listenable collection of Brazil-related material. Although not specifically Brazilian, each song has the flavor and nuance of Gilberto, with harmonies reminiscent of The Beach Boys and The Four Seasons. The combination makes for a very pleasing and soothing listen!
