notes
Brooke began writing music at the age of 8 in response to the hot six grader living next door to her suburban home in Saint Louis, Missouri. Shortly thereafter, he moved, and the following years were spent focusing on dance, jazz, and theatre.
Cut to the turn of the millennium. She picked up music again playing bass, harmonizing, and (pole) dancing as part of two prominent San Francisco bands, performing at such events as the Exotic Erotic Ball at Cow Palace.
Now based in Hollywood, Brooke enjoys touring the SW and NW as a solo artist, playing festivals such as ROCKRGRL and BAM, and returning to local venues like The Mint with her trio. Brooke can silence a room when she opens her mouth and stir it back up again with her poignant lyrics, tongue-in-cheek attitude, and her own personal blend of good-nature and sass.
Crowd favorites include that first song ever written about the boy next door, as well as the songs about her imperfections and the difficulty of trying to get a date for Passover…when you’re not Jewish.
In other media, Brooke has performed her tunes on both KCSN’s “Tied to the Tracks” with Larry Wines, and in the upcoming feature “The Inevitable Undoing of Jay Brooks”.
She can also be found sharing her theatrical flair and love for standards at such historic haunts as The Money Tree where she sings with a jazz quartet and takes advantage of her guitar-less hands by coercing a patron or two into doing a little two-step.
