This is the debut solo album from New York based recording artist Richie Castellano. Recorded at his home studio when he was 17, "Alone in my Basement" launched Richie's career as a producer, musician and engineer. Since "Alone in my Basement" was released, Richie went on to work with artists such as Blue Oyster Cult, Michael Hill, Sue Foley, Bumblefoot, Paul Shaffer and others. Richie is currently recording on CMH records.
"Alone in my Basement" is a concept album reminiscent of Pink Floyd, and the Beatles. Throw in a bit of progressive rock influence from Genesis and Yes, add some killer blues guitar, and you get a unique style. This album is filled with vocal harmonies, melodic themes, and lots of cool guitarwork. The rich and intricate production is complemented by the simplicity and sincerity of the songs. The catchy melodies and intimate lyrics will draw you in immediately.
Released in 1998, "Alone in my Basement" met critical acclaim. The album won songwriting awards from the Songwriter's Hall of Fame and Bertlesman's World of Expression. It was also written up in EQ magazine for its production:
"At a mere 18 years old, he's just released his first CD, Alone In My Basement, which, as the name implies was recorded by Richie almost completely solo. In addition to playing some seriously adept guitar parts, Richie played bass, keys, programmed drums, and acted as engineer and producer. In spite of the fact that Alone In My Basement is his first CD, it sounds great and shows musical sensibilities way beyond those of the typical 18 year old, echoing classic sensibilities of far more experienced producers."

author: Kevin Jamisonfor a piece of work like this to come out of an 18 yr old is fabulous although i could have done wihtout the bigital sounding tambourine but overall a fantastic freshman effort the progeny album is also a master piece but i feel lacks some of the heart of alone in my basement cant wait for your follow up solo album rich
