ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"As a boy, repeatedly listening to my father's Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison vinyl, it would thrill me when toward the end of Luther Perkins' iconic solo on Folsom Prison Blues, Cash yelled 'Sooie!' I was convinced, and Dad let me believe, that it was because like everybody from Arkansas, Johnny was a Razorback fan. I later learned that his 'Sooie' wasn't unique to this recording, but punctuated many of his live performances throughout his career. Whatever his motivation, Cash's Hog Call connected a kid from the Ozarks to Arkansas' legendary native son and ultimately inspired this Woo Pig tale. Once a Hog, always a Hog." - Gary Newton

I was east a Texarkana
To the north a Louisiana
When I pulled into a road cafe
Just to get a little bite
In the middle of the night
When the jukebox started to play
Johnny Cash started crankin'
So the joint went to shakin'
And the people all began to sway
They got that Woo Pig Fever
And they wouldn't let me get away

They got that Woo Pig Fever
The fever is a goin' around
They got that Woo Pig Fever
I think that they're a comin' down
With that Woo Pig Fever
The joint is beginnin' to swell
With that Woo Pig Fever
And I don't think they wanna get well

(Well) I was headed to the door
When they pulled me to the floor
And everybody started to dance
It was all a bunch a hooey
Til a Boy Named Sooie
Made me happy with the circumstance
Then an off-duty nurse
Stuck her hand in her purse
Felt my head then she tried to act kind
"Don't you call no Doc
'Cause I'm calling the Hogs
I'm in a Natural State a mind"

I got that Woo Pig Fever
The fever is a goin' around
I got that Woo Pig Fever
I think that I'm a comin' down
With that Woo Pig Fever
The joint is beginnin' to swell
With that Woo Pig Fever
And I don't think I wanna get well

So when you leave The Bluff City
And cross The Mississippi
And you pull into a road cafe
Give a listen to direction
Take along some protection
For your ears if they start to play
Any Johnny Cash tune
Or your head will swoon
And your temperature will start to rise
You'll get that Woo Pig Fever
And see red through Razorback eyes

Woo Pig Fever (Sooie)
Woo Pig Fever (Sooie)
Woo Pig Fever (Sooie)
Woo Pig Fever (Sooie)
Woo Pig Fever (Sooie)
Woo Pig Fever (Sooie)

(Give me) Woo Pig Fever
The fever is a goin' around
We got that Woo Pig Fever
I think that we're a comin' down
With that Woo Pig Fever
The joint is beginnin' to swell
With that Woo Pig Fever
And I don't think we wanna get well

No we don't wanna get wella-wella-wella-wella-well

Woo Pig!
