Album Notes

On 11th March 2011, northeast coast of Japan was hit by a huge earthquake. “Touhoku-nippon-big-earthquake”. Tsunami, “the after-shock of M9.0 earthquake” killed estimated 20,000 people and rising. Over 40,000 were made homeless as a result and they are now living in temporary shelters. Now, Japan is facing threat from radiation leak from damaged nuclear plants as a result of earthquake yet there has not been no official report to determine their fate until today.

28th February 2011, only one week after the news reached Jamaica, “Song for Japan Aid Project” was initiated by Jun Tochino and Yumiko Gabe, both Japanese nationals living in Jamaica, not only to raise funds for those victims in affected areas but also to give them the hopes to live and to cheer them up with strong and encouraging messages by Jamaican artistes who have visited Japan in a past.

“We first contacted Mr. Triston Palma to ask him if he could help us line up other artistes and musicians for the song. Rhythm was recorded live by “Fire House Crew and lyrics were written by Luciano and Triston Palma who also became a music director to create this song as well as a singer. And inspiration came from a traditional Japanese folk song called “Saitara-Bushi” which is a song about fishermen used to live in Matsushima, Miyagi prefecture in Japan. The same place was also hit by tsunami“ says Jun Tochino.

All the effort and contribution made by singers, rhythm makers, film maker, studio engineer, mixing engineer were given to us for free in genuine hopes to see quick recovery for Japan.

We, hereby, pledge that all proceeds driving from this song will be sent to victims of earthquake in Japan.
