ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
On this first release, 11 Acorn Lane open their musical palette to unveil their love of the French Chanson (La Vie Est Belle, Le Sexe Au Telephone) and their soft spot for anything influenced by a certain charming je-ne-sais-quoi (Under The Moon, Je Te Cherche).

Along with the beautifully crafted French songs (and remixes thereof), they incorporate the classic L.A. studio orchestra sound, adding some fresh and exquisite material to that cannon (Martini, Painting Coconuts, The Sneak) and melting the large combo format with modern beats and pulsating arrangements (The Fox, The Desert Inn).

Songs from this album have been featured in Ugly Betty (La Vie Est Belle Brazilectro Mix), Better Off Ted (Cactus Scar, Painting Coconuts, Je Te Cherche) and Bored To Death (The Fox). Several songs from this and other 11 Acorn Lane albums are in frequent rotation on the exquisite Soma FM station 'Illinois Street Lounge' that is dedicated to old and new classics in space age pop.

11 Acorn Lane is right up my alley
I've been into strange & wonderful music for a long time. Starting out with The Mothers of Invention, Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, when you could hear them regularly on underground FM, Then artists such as Was Not Was, The Residents, Snakefinger, seeing Thievery Corporation perform live at a party, and untold others I got turned on to over the decades, when it was still possible to get exposed to these gems. It was joy to discover I could browse "Mood: Quirky" here on CD Baby to be able to explore my type of music.
One of the best discoveries so far has been 11 Acorn Lane. "Painting Coconuts" is an amazing album. My favorite tracks are "Under The Moon", "Painting Coconuts", and "The Fox" (which has spy movie theme song written all over it.)
I have even won over my 18 year old daughter by getting "Painting Coconuts" stuck in her head after a single listening.
These songs have been in hot rotation ever since I picked up this album over a year ago. You can't go wrong with this one.
