Album Notes

13tears came together in the summer of 2005. Their sound is a fusion of delicate and brutal melodies that intermesh seductively with heavy guitars and driving beats, laced with hauntingly beautiful female vocals. Coming from various bands around Melbourne, 13tears have melded their diverse ideas and eccentricities together to paint a new picture. On stage they have an alluringly dark presence, their unusual style deviates from the norm, also allowing them to play acoustic shows. 13tears have received attention and adoration from fans all over the world through high promotion via their online music sites and clothing boutique, which features designs from their own label. 13tears are unique; they have their own flow. It shines through in their widely anticipated 5 song Ep In the liquid limelight For additional info and bookings ~~ contact Kala 0438325260 ~~ thirteentears@optusnet.com.au ~~ http://www.myspace.com/13tears http://www.13tears.com.au/

REVIEWS

Melbourne is back on the map and ready to take you away!

Wow, where to start? Well, I was playing around here looking for stuff and I was immediately drawn to this band by Kala's voice. Not sure exactly how to say it, but I just really like her voice and the way she uses it. The sound is simultaneously fresh and new, yet strangely familiar; a true "je ne sais quoi". I'm very pleased with my decision to pick up the CD. After listening through the entire thing, I took the liberty of calling this band's genre "bratpunk". That's a good thing. Not sure I can elaborate on that, but if you hear the CD, you'll understand. The CD is smartly put together, too; all the songs are definitely in the order they belong in to give you a complete journey. Calamine is an excellent choice for starting the CD. It's the best one, and strategically placed to draw you in and set the stage for what comes after. Calamine is an excellent song, with VERY STRONG transitions, something I see very few musicians paying much attention to these days. Strong transitions make for a strong, solid, song. Calamine is an emotionally powerful song; It's harsh, it's painful, it's hopelessness, it's justified anger. It's oh-so human and oh-so horrifyingly de-humanized all at once. Luna Scream comes next and really opens up the throttle. The music is fast, furious, and fun. Definitely ready to get you bouncing. Sugar Aqualine has a great sound to it; an intriguing sound combination of coquette-ish and fun. Your racing heart leftover from Luna Scream can keep beating heavy here. In The Liquid Limelight is a song that really hit me hard. I don't know, there's just something about this tune and how it sounds that took me back and made me homesick for San Diego. This melancholy song just brought back memories of meandering on the beach at dusk, daydreaming; gentle breeze on my skin and the waves in my ears. Extrovert is a fitting denouement for the show; a soft and haunting lullaby of sorts. All in all, this is a superb CD coming from a superb songwriter and vocalist. Definitely a good buy and also a good artist to keep an eye on. Kala and I exchanged a few messages on MySpace. The band name is reverting back to it's original (NevaDream), so you should look under that name for future releases. Hope you enjoy your CD as much as I have!
