Like the epic story surrounding many original bands, 14 Feet Wide developed their unique amalgam of rock thunder ball and melodic maelstrom playing dives and dance halls in local climes, theirs being the fragrant southeast, home of many a legend and many a loser. Comprised of vocalist Jamie Peavey, guitarist Jon Westwood, bassist Hayden Mauney, and drummer Matt Doughten, 14 Feet Wide espouse road worn, rock and roll tradition, with a nod to modern technology and computer commerce. Rather than simply imitate any one particular artist (which would brand them as yet more wannabe poseurs slurping limp toilet water), 14 Feet Wide incorporate a dizzying, diverse stew of unlikely influences including Clutch, Orange 9MM, Rage Against the Machine and Downset.
