Album Notes

286 is an LA based rock band that plays straightforward in your face rock music the way that they think it should be done…the way they haven’t seen it done in some time. In 286 you’ll find no obligatory love ballads, stupid songs about chicks they lost in 9th grade or whatever lame ass marketing ploy is the trendy thing at the moment. In their minds, rock and roll is not dead and it never has been. Music today is too much corrupt business, too many poseurs, too much pro tools, and too much bullshit. You can’t manufacture a 286 because they aren’t a prefabricated mold. What you see is what you get, and they hope you have as much fun listening and watching us as they do making the music.

"Rock, rock till you drop"
author: Metal Perspective (Alekos Tagmatarhis)
"Rock, rock till you drop" as Def Leppard state on their well-known song. Well that’s the case with 286, but it doesn’t mean they follow the same hard rock path. I just used the phrase to emphasize the will and passion 286 share for rock and roll and on their homonymous debut release they continue from where they stopped on 2005’s “Profiled” EP. With slogans like "Rock and Roll is not Dead" and "Emo Sucks", 286 are offering to the fans of hard music who adopt the same ideas, almost 36 minutes of pure “rock and roll”, as they like to call it, or “Dirty Rock” the way I to see it with some punk and hard rock references. Musically and interpretatively speaking they prefer an old-fashioned approach and production-wise they did their best to pull that off. Clearly now, 286 never claimed that they discovered America, or that they try to enrich a weather-beaten genre blah blah blah… They play what they like most and what keeps their adrenaline flowing and they do it the best possible way. So if you can imagine how Hard Rock and Roll sounds and consider yourself a fan of this style and if your collection is consisted of albums from AC DC to Motley Crue or even Ramones and some punk, then 286’s sound falls somewhere between your musical likings and you have discovered your next "heroes”. A must-have for a Rock fan!!!

These guys really believe in what they do and this makes me hope for a sparkling
author: Cathouse
These guys crave to create music, to find new paths to walk and prove themselves their skills and this album is some kind of game for the listeners too: a journey to get each meaning of this experiment.286, this is the name of the band, was born in Los Angeles thanks to Martin e Nikee Verry, two brothers coming from Argentina; the other members of the band are the drummer Pete Pace from New Jersey and the singer Adam Joad from Pittsburgh. Their main goal is to play their music without following any rules and they can do it very well! Are you asking yourself how this album may sound like? It's street rock'n'roll with heavy metal and southern rock influences, it sounds very strong, powerful and so individual. This album is released after 286's debut EP produced back in 2005 when the band came out and was appreciated by everybody. The ten songs of the album are pure dynamite and its all about energy, it's a sound explosion thanks to Adam Joad's rough voice; heavy drums, sharp riffs, hypnotizing vocal lines are the main features of this album. There is no time to rest, no time to slow down a bit in this album that was made to be as powerful as it could. This is a very interesting work that shows how the band reached an higher level during these years. These guys really believe in what they do and this makes me hope for a sparkling future. Raw & raucus hard rock
author: Tim Lunn.
The only bad thing about the e.p was it wasn't an album.now it is,ACE! This is old style hard rock played with a punk attitude. It's raw & raucus with plenty of groove. But its also got songs & certaintly isn't style over substance.Buy this album & play it when your getting fixed up for a night on the town, but NEVER play it when you're stayin' in.or you'll trash the house! You have been warned. Allum of year for me!

IT WASN’T A FLUKE!
author: BJE
IT WASN’T A FLUKE! When this ½ Argentine ½ American Rock band burst on the scene a year a ½ ago with their 5 song “Profiled” EP, the reviews were outstanding but the big question was whether or not they could pull off a full length. Well, not only did they pull it off, they did it in a big way. For this one, the guys rerecorded the 5 song EP and added 5 more tracks to create what they simply call “286!” Self-proclaiming to produce “straight forward in your face rock music the way they think it should be done,” the song choices are a mix of speedy southern rock tinged kickers with mid tempo anthems that give you a little something different on each track. After kicking my ass for 9 tracks, the real standout to me came on the last song, “Sands.” This dark mid tempo masterpiece made me wish I could catch these guys opening for someone like Black Label Society or Clutch. After checking their website it seems like these guys are really putting together a musical movement with killer shows and some behind the scenes action called 286’s “Adam TV” named for lead vocalist Adam Joad. These guys have a lot of rock, a lot of talent a lot of personality. I really hope to see more of them in the future. -Black Jackque Entertainment
