ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hustle and survive. Born and raised in city of South Gate Los Angeles county CA, Anthony Jordan Gutierrez, better known as 2Tone started learning the street game early. As an only child, he drew his ambitions and inspiration of the man he would become and where his dreams would lead him from his parents and friends. 2Tone’s father lived the life of a gangster before the birth of his only son. Even in the early years of 2Tone’s life he watched his dad hustle in a lifestyle of guns, low-rider cars, money and violence – quickly understanding that one needed to do whatever it took to survive. Life was not going to hand things over easy, so he needed to fight for what he wanted. 2Tone’s mother is whom he credits for bringing music into his life. Growing up he listened to The Doors, Run DMC and Biz Markie; it is through these legendary greats where 2Tone discovered the introduction of his sound and style. He began writing and performing at the age of 6 for family, friends and anyone who would listen. However it wasn’t until the age of 12, when he met breakdance group The Assassins Crew that his love for Hip Hop and B-Boying started to take shape. Coupling his passion for rapping and writing with breakdancing, 2Tone dove head first into the culture. In 2005, Caveman and Vision of The Assassins Crew created a music production branch and started working with 2Tone to mold and bring life to his lyrics. Together they bring an interesting tension in dualities. 2Tone is raw with sophistication, nasty but never losing the sexy and truthfully intense. His writing is 90% autobiographical and 10% playful. A kid at heart, he’s silly and goofy, however it is never mistaken that there is a fighter underneath the mischievous grin. Great wit and wordplay is demonstrated in the writing and intricate beats and uncommon sounds in the music composition, this team creates music that can cross generations and tastes. The release of his much anticipated freshman album is set for Summer 2009.
