After reading the book, “Einstein His Life and Universe” by Walter Isaacson, I was so moved
by Einstein’s life that I wanted to compose music about certain chapters in his life. His
genius is well known. It was his courage to overcome insurmountable odds, humor and inner
struggles that moved me to compose this music.
“One Wine One Rose” (Prologue and Epilogue) is the first and last song on the CD.
My improvisation is based on Henry Mancini’s song “The Days of Wine and Roses”.
The beauty of this melody and it’s juxtaposition to the story being told, felt
appropriate to express Einstein’s life. Throughout the CD, I tried to capture the struggles
and beauty of each chapter in his life.

something I like. All the acoustic playing came from that one session. At the time I didn’t
realize that my dog (Beau) was in the studio with me. After the first song, you’ll hear me
pat him on the belly and ask if he liked my playing …… he did !! On other acoustic tunes
you might hear a faint jingle sound in the background. That’s when Beau decided to move
around and you’re hearing his tags. The other grunting sound is just me.
