“Singin’ & Swingin’” marks 3 For The Show’s CD debut, and is dedicated to all the trio’s fans who lovingly pestered the group with the following question: “Do you have a CD yet?” The CD is comprised of eight well-known standards, but there is nothing “standard” about the group’s treatment of the material. Listen closely and you will hear the influences of arrangers like Juan Garcia Esquivel, Billy May, and Dave Lambert in 3 For The Show’s work, as well as tributes to great musicians like Charlie “Bird” Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, and The Manhattan Transfer. The trio understands how much they owe those who have gone before, and make a point of acknowledging the fact with every note they sing.
Perhaps the only thing better than hearing their work on a recording is seeing 3 For The Show! live. The group is at heart a song & dance trio in the energetic style of a mid-‘50s Vegas lounge act (think Louis Prima, Keely Smith, Sam Butera & the Wildest with choreography and you’ve got the right idea). Based out of Los Angeles, the trio travels extensively throughout southern California and the southwestern United States, performing for packed houses of hipsters and hep cats, young and old alike.
3 For The Show! is a song & dance trio par excellence, but more than that, they’re an outrageous party on wheels—and they don’t quit until everyone in the joint is jumpin’. Of course, some folks might not be able to catch the trio live because of geographical constraints, so until you can make it to southern California, buy their CD. When it comes in the mail, put it in your player, sit back, close your eyes, and let 3 For The Show! take you on a musical hip trip like no other.
