Album Notes

40 Watt Hype is a neo hip-hop band that combines elements of Latin, Soul and R&B creating a new, fresh and commanding sound with tremendous crossover success. Often compared to groups like N.E.R.D., Black Eyed Peas and Ozomatli, 40 Watt Hype brings a slamming, high-energy live show complete with 2 emcees, horns and Latin percussion.
Billboard magazine selected 40 Watt Hype as one of the "Top 6 independent acts of the Southwest." Esquire magazine mentioned 40 watt Hype as one of the "10 Things a Guy Should Know About Music" in the April 2004 issue. 40 Watt Hype is also sponsored by Budweiser as part of the True Music Live program. MTV used the music of 40 Watt Hype for "Real World/Road Rules Challenge" and the band also provided the main title song to the Warner Bros. film "The Adventures of Pluto Nash."
Their record "Grand Unification Theory" is produced by Grammy Award winner Art Hodge (Santana, Fight Club, Dust Brothers) and features DJ Swamp (Beck) and Walter Miranda (Beastie Boys). Their bilingual song "La Sombra" is featured on the Blender magazine compilation CD to be released in September 2004.
40 Watt Hype has developed a diverse grass roots fan base as a result of their innovative and engaging live show fronted by band leader/vocalist Awall and emcee Vagabond. Their diverse hometown of Fresno CA is a testament to the fact that 40 Watt Hype connects with many different types of fans and music lovers. The band has performed on the Vans Warped Tour and with The Pharcyde, 311, Blackalicious and live on "The Kevin and Bean Show" (KROQ).

"40 Watt Hype delivers catchy hooks on top of infectious, hypnotizing beats..... a fresh, original, sound." The Reverend, Music Director at Mondosphere's KFRR.

"....One of the most creative and exciting groups we've heard....their Latin rhythms are as infectious as they are authentic...." (Joe Moore, Station Manager KFSR College Radio)
