Energetic track!
author: whitney j
Though their album, Land Of Peachez, is a tribute to their home state of Georgia, Frenzy’s song “Hollywood Horror Beauty Queen”, written and performed by Trey McGriff, captures the gritty and sweet sides of its titular town. With lyrics about a particularly entrancing screen queen illustrating the magic of the movies and a bouncy melody that encourages head-boppin’, listeners will be drawn into Frenzy’s sugary, bass-heavy pop. (Maybe it’s all this talk of peaches, but we can’t help but hear the hooky pop-punk of the Presidents Of The United States Of America in Frenzy’s quirky sound.) Tailor-made for sitcom montages or lighthearted moments in action sports videos, this energetic track has more attitude than all the divas on the red carpet put together.

Totally unique, very listenable and in every way driven by a strong melody.

At times while listening to "Frenzy" I felt like I was in the 60's while at other times it was very clear that I was in the 2000's (Is 2000's the right way to state that ??) This speaks clearly to the wide array of musical genre that this band can produce and no doubt speaks to the talent of the band. "Here with me" brought me that 60's driving melody that kept me wanting more. "Wicked Way" had a similiar feel but with more of a contemporary groove to it. "Hold her now" brought to the table an airy folk rock beat, with shades of the Doors and Grateful Dead flowing through it. Again, I heard influences from a wide array of music. Beatles, CSNY, as I mentioned The Dead, all had some influence on this bands music. Yet, no one band or music fully captured Frenzy's sound. The thing about Frenzy's music is that it did not want to be canned into any one genre. It is one of the few bands whose music did not allow for easy placing. Each song arrived witha different feel. Some arrived with pop, some alternative, acoustic and rock. A couple of songs met me with a little of each. I think this is the ultimate statement and testament to this bands sound. In my mind it almost wanted to create a genre of its own. Totally unique, very listenable and in every way driven by a strong melody. Open your musical horizons with this band. Give them a listen and I think you will be pleased. I was. Tell them Johnny sent ya!
