On this long-awaited second album, here are Four Wheel Drive again, with their unfailing ability to take songs from across a range of familiar and unexpected places, and deliver them with freshness, vitality and integrity.
Richard Hawkins – Dublin, Ireland
---------
'Another Town' picks up where their first CD ‘No Doubt About it' (2000) left off : embodying a taste for timeless songs played and sung with a certain ‘attitude and edge’ .
--------------------------
Very impressive, I have serious doubts if any American group could replicate a traditional European style of music so authentically.
------------------------------
One listen to ‘Another Town’ and you’ll feel this is something special. Four Wheel Drive’s flawless recording of these 14 class songs - there isn’t really one weak cut on the album - treats the listener to the undeniable musicianship of this ensemble.
--------------------------
This is bluegrass music played and sung with European flair.
--------------------------
‘Another Town’ may well be one of the most interesting European bluegrass releases so far while at the same time appeal to anyone who appreciates the honesty of good recorded acoustic music, regardless the genre – which we consider quite an achievement. - Stoney Man Records
--------------------------
It takes vision to reshape the Everly Brothers' classic ballad 'All I Have To Do is Dream' into a rousing bluegrass number and just call it 'Dream'. Last night Four Wheel Drive just did that and they got away with it too : The crowd simply went wild !
----------------------------
The recording is crisp and clear, the choice of material outstanding in its diversity, and there's a real nice change of mood on this album - as if you're listening to a concert.
-------------------------------
On top of that there's a beautiful version of the Townes Van Zandt classic 'If I Needed You' sung as a duet with Four Wheel Drive's master fiddler Joost Van Es by Dutch female singer Jolanda Peters. This track by itself would be worth the price of the album, a rather expensive track but nonetheless.
------------------------------
The solid bluegrass music of Four Wheel Drive is much liked by all. We can tell this from the awards that just keep coming to this band. Very impressive ! In 2002 they were the first band to officially be able to call themselves the #1 European Bluegrass Band Of The Year. The last two consecutive years they could take home the Audience Popularity Award. What else is there to say about such a band ? - Official Ewob guide 2007 (European World of Bluegrass)
-----------------------------
Another beauty on this album is the highly intricate fiddle/banjo duet ‘Cattle in the Cane’ , an old time tune performed with amazing precision by master fiddler Joost Van Es and German banjo meister Jürgen Biller.

This week I received your new CD. My heart
was beating faster from that moment I saw it in my post box. I keep
listening to it from Tuesday when I received it. I like the choice of
material, the sound (especially banjo) and of course the way how it is
played and sung. But that is obvious with 4 Wheel Drive! Thank you very much for a great CD !

On this long-awaited second album, here are 4 Wheel Drive again, with their unfailing ability to take songs from across a range of familiar and unexpected places, and deliver them with freshness , vitality, and integrity." Dem ist nichts mehr hinzuzufügen. Ob in Up-Tempo-Nummern, Balladen oder Instrumentaltiteln, die Gruppe 4 Wheel Drive ist und bleibt eine Klasse für sich.
