Album Notes

The 5et is a collaborative group comprised of five very talented up and coming New York musicians:

Jonathan Powell is one of New York's best trumpet players as you will hear on this album. His brother Jeremy Powell is also a new force on the New York scene who is pushing the envelope as well. Yayoi Ikawa on piano is on of the hottest up and coming piano players in the New York scene today. Her compositions on this album are a true testament to that. On bass, Gary Glickman brings a solid ground and a powerful sound to this album which feature two of his compositions. On drums Brad Wentwoth just plain takes care of business. Brad lights the fire that keeps this album moving from one note to the next.

The concept behind this group of very talented musicians is based on sharing each others ideas through their original songs. This group has a very unique and powerful sound as a result of these very talented minds working together for one goal: to make great new music and to push up the standard for live groups one more bar.
