For radio listeners there's the choice of listening to that Daughtry song for the 1,245,978th time, or supporting a local band that's just as catchy.
Grand Rapids band, 5ML takes that radio formula and creates music that stands out just a little bit more. That secret ingredient? Passion. Where the big rock bands of radio are busy grabbing at fat paychecks, 5ML takes its time to craft the songs using lyrics that have meaning and powerful melodies.
The vocals and guitars are solid and well-produced, with simple riffs that come together nicely. The strongest point on the band's new EP is the power ballad, "I Said." It's stripped-down rock that showcases the vocals and guitar.

Grand Rapids, MI based 5 Minutes Late was first formed by the two original members Kirk Fabbri (Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar) and Sam Smith (Drummer). Shortly following, Aaron Lutz (Lead Guitar/Backup Vocals) and Nathan Twa (Bass Guitar/Backup Vocals) were found to give the band a new dimension and artistic style. The band strives on a variety of styles with each song bringing a slightly different sound. A warm blend of powerful vocals, edgy instrumentals, and well written melodies propel this band with a heightened level of energy. Influences from Daughtry, Saving Abel, Matchbox 20, and Lifehouse are all evident. The band formed in the interest of playing locally, but quickly realized there was much more potential ahead. Although only together for a short period of time, the band quickly gelled and decided to record its first EP soon after.
The album was recorded by Andy Mitchell at Audio Bay recording studio in Cannonsburg, MI and mastered by Drew Lavyne (credits include The Foo Fighters, Dave Mathews Band, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many more).
