Album Notes

(from liner notes)
These are all original songs. I (Michael) wrote the odd ones, Hank wrote the even ones. Some are amusing, some are serious, some are autobiographical and some are completely fictitious. We cover quite a bit of territory in terms of genre. We've been described as "Eclectic Alaskana." A quick way to say we do all sorts of stuff. That's part of what "60/40" means-not necessarily driving in the middle of the road or being very accurate about "what kind of music we play." It's not just about our respective ages (which soon enough will no longer apply) or even the age of our music or the vintage of our guitars. We've found it also refers to our eyesight.

Hank and I started out as "Two Older Guys & Their Guitars" and were content to play for friends and the occasional innocent bystander at the Sleeping Lady Tea Shoppe for a couple years. Boyd started coming around and playing bass with us, which added a couple more dimensions-to the act as well as the sound. Not long after that, Howard, a regular customer, finally made good on his promise (or threat) to bring his snare drum in and sit in with us. Howard turned out to be the missing link we didn't know we were missing. Since Boyd is younger and Howard isn't playing a guitar and there were four of us, we couldn't keep calling ourselves Two Older Guys & Their Guitars, so my wife came up with this one: Silver Haired & Solid Gold. As it turns out, there's less and less hair and not much gold (that would probably be more like an 80/20 ratio). But regardless of what the numbers are, they add up to a 100 percent fun factor-unusually high for anything you might do in life.
Did I mention we live in Alaska?
