77 JEFFERSON is a band that borrows elements of reggae, dub, hip-hop, rock, and soul and then mixes those styles with old-school and progressive interpretations. Joel, Ryan, Miles, and Mike began playing together in the summer of 2006 in a house on 77th and Jefferson in Kansas City, Missouri. They quickly recorded a 5-song demo called "Songs For Selene" and played their first show September 23rd, 2006 at Californos in Westport. Many shows have followed and 77 has earned a reputation for giving high-energy performances and endorses a "Do It Yourself" mindset by writing, recording, and producing their own music. They are trying to reach as many people as they can by spreading their sound and their vibes throughout the midwest and beyond. 77 has played over a hundred shows including festivals such as KC Reggae by the River 2007, The Crossroads Music Festival 2007, Roots Family Reunion Festival 2007, Wakarusa 2008, Tulsa Reggae Festival 2008, and Jah Roots 420 Reggae Festivals 2007 and 2008. 77 has shared stages with Luciano, Mikey General, Sugar Minott, Junior Reid, Jah Roots, Cas Haley, and many more. 77 recently completed their debut, 15-song album, "SLEDGEHAMMER," released on Itunes, CDBabY, and participating stores.
