Album Notes

The Housatonic-based alternative indie rock group 8 Foot River features the talents of singer-songwriter Glenn Geiger on guitar, bass and lead vocals with Stephen Dietemann on guitar and bass, Gabrielle Senza playing cello and keyboard, and drummer extraordinaire Steve Praus.

Geiger first introduced his collection of original songs to Dietemann in a little practice studio located on the banks of the Housatonic River in 2009. Soon drummer Steve Praus joined the group and by February 2010 Dietemann had recruited Senza to record cello parts for a couple of the band's new songs, ultimately inviting her to join the group permanently.

As their mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation started shaping the direction of the band, Dietemann and Geiger collaborated on arranging several original songs, bringing a cohesive sound to the eclectic range of hard-hitting rock and sweetly melodic indie pop songs that make up the band's output.

The inventive sound of 8 Foot River's richly textured instrumentation and complex compositions reveal the vulnerability, angst and emotion of the human experience and has quickly drawn a widely diverse following since the group started performing in the summer of 2010.

The release of their first CD, "DIG" is due out in May 2011.
