Portland, Oregon's second best rock band, 8-Foot Tender have produced 6 albums and a handful of singles in the past 13 years, 1 including Scott "Deluxe" Drake (singer & front man of the legendary Humpers), as well as playing as the band on Drake's latest solo record "Grand Mal" due out in June of 2007.
"This recording of 8-Foot Tender featuring Scott "Deluxe" Drake (from The Humpers) on voice is a revelation. In all the history of recorded music, only very few times has a work of such depth and vitality been executed, or, dare I say, attempted. From the arachnoid transmutation of "Tarantula" to the je ne sais quoi of "Take Yer Medicine", this disc is, from post to post, the stuff of legend. The majestic guitar work of Saul Qaeda Koll on "Another Girl, Another Planet", the thundering percussion of Glen G. Brunton throughout and the other-worldly vocal stylings of Jeffrey Fieldhouse on "Whiplash" are each alone worth the price of admission. If that was all this CD had to offer, it would already rank among the world's great works of art, rivaling even the paintings of Massimo Quaglino or the creme de la creme of Portugese ballet. But there's more. How could one resist the fluid, insinuating bass lines of Gregory Odell? Or the poignant thrill of Scott Deluxe Drake's reworking of the timeless classic "I'm Sorry"? This volume contains musical treasures that would inspire all but the most stubborn soul. Buy this now and play it loud...I beseech you."
