ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Music and rhythms of Algeria, Morocco, Iraq, Lebanon and Egypt in a contemporary jacket full of surprizes.
"Wasta", the first track is a fine example of this, using a typical bellydance baladi beat, middle eastern and western instruments.
"Shayk Dabelli" is a bellydance dumbek drum solo, accompagnied by mazhar, doholla, riqq and duff, suited for advanced dancers, troupe performances and classes.
"The cave of Ali Baba" brings us Baul instruments as the one stringed ektara, the dotara and the dhol spread on a bed of an Iraqi dabke rhythm.
"Dancer of Palmyra" has a Debussy feel according to some of the previewers. "Midan al tahrir" and "Raqs el Atlas" featuring the ud and are part of the life performance of the Abdel Hazim ensemble.
