Album Notes

Rich memories of neighbor and community life in Detroit has inspired the music and spoken word of this CD. It speaks of people who made the world take notice of the things they made with their hands, the trends they set with their styles, the changes they made with their acts of courage, song and poetry. This is the music and rhythms of working class people whose futures and dreams rolled of assembly line to the accompaniment of Blues, Jazz, and Gospel. Theirs was a call to strive forward to make some kind of difference in life as community folk. This music engages heart, mind and soul. It is about commitment and persistence of the people of the city. This passion articulates freedom and common purpose. It's been a long and wonderful journey and I thank those that came before for their own brand of leadership and courage.
