A follow-up to Alex Martin's 2007 release "Nostalgia for Terra Incognita" (Pajarito Verde Records), recorded with his quartet Amerique Latine, "Second Life" (2010) is a more acoustic and intimate recording, focusing on Martin's guitar in a trio context (with expert contributions from bassist Ron Brendle and drummer Thomas Garner). It features 10 of Martin's compositions, a traditional Breton melody arranged for jazz trio, and Wayne Shorter's beautiful bossa ballad "Ana Maria."

Congratulations Alex!

Alex Martin has been writing interesting and lyrical music for years...nice to hear him in this stripped down trio format with one of my favorite bassists (Ron Brendle). The tunes and textures (nylon string, electric steel string) are varied, and the music is honest: no posing here. Rhythmic variation and memorable themes abound...Thank You for the music.
