Album Notes

the bEdRoom tapeS is a four-song throwback to the punk-rock legends that emerged into the mainstream during the late ‘70s and ‘80s. Jim Carroll, with his classic hit "People Who Died," was at the forefront of this movement and Ariel's highly energized cover is a fitting tribute. “Lucille,” one of three original tracks, is an ode to a transvestite and is comprised of tongue-in-cheek, infectious lyrics that will buzz about the listener’s head for hours on end. “Torito,” is a Spanish-infused lullaby written for his son, which first made its appearance as “Down in Tijuana/Hang Around” on the album 'All These Brilliant Things'. Ariel has since revisited the track expanding on the horns and hidden Latin grooves dispersed throughout – elements that stood out to him during the mixing phase of the album. Lastly, “The Future” is a psychedelic mindtrip into the subconscious as Ariel boldly proclaims that the future is about to begin over hypnotic, layered guitar hooks. Perhaps he is on to something, considering that Ariel is sitting pretty at the top of his game in the New York City punk-rock scene.
