Ample Patience

Knowing Barbara as an intelligent, talented, and sensitive person-she still knocked me over with this CD. Wonderful songs. Very cool arrangements and choice of instruments. But above all is Barbara's ability to go from a saucy songstress in "Be The Man" to a soft, sensitive whispering voice in "What Were the Chances". What a range of songs she has put together. Her lyrics stand up so well. She has crafted some beautiful songs. And, with Tom Prasada-Rao's and others' help, delivers them is S-T-Y-L-E. Do yourself a favor- get this CD, sit back & listen. It's a gem! Congrats, Barbara!

Garriel's Music is Ripe and Ready!!!
author: Kathy Moran
What do you get when you cross Bonnie Raitt with Laura Nyro? What do you get when the Mistress meets the Masters? What do you get when you cross the best of musical genres from days gone by with contemporary stylings?
I could not have been more surprised by this superb collection of songs! Rarely these days does an artist release a first CD that achieves this level of quality.
Barbara Garriel possesses a voice that is as rich and sensuous as red velvet. She is the girl-next-door dressed in the finest black leather. Her well-crafted songs reflect a warm and spirited soul who is feisty, flirty, and fun-loving all at the same time. From blues to country, Barbara carries it all off in high style. Her music is ripe and ready. She represents every woman, but believe me, this CD is no audio chick flick.
When combining forces with master producers Tom Prasada-Rao and Steve Young, this CD is one heck of a good listen. The instrumentation is right on the money as each track hits its mark.
There are so many memorable tracks on this CD that it’s nearly impossible to choose a favorite. The songs head in many directions and styles but the project stands as a unified whole. Even with the variety of styles, I’d bet that folks who prefer one genre over another will not skip over any of the excellent songs in this collection.
The Open Road – The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, but when it does, stand aside, boys, and let the lady ride. This song sets the listener in motion from the first sassy note and could go on for ten minutes and not lose momentum. Oh, yeah!
Girls Night Out – Take Girls Just Wanna Have Fun but translate it to what grown-up girls are after when it’s time for a little escape!
Before You Go – This song has “Broadway beauty” written all over it. Each time I hear it, I envision that turning point when that heartbreaking, show-stopping moment of acceptance comes, the audience falls silent, then sends waves of compassionate applause as the heroine gently bows her head at its conclusion.
One Voice – The percussive heartbeat rhythm of this song is the perfect backdrop for the wakeup call that must be heard if we are to save our planet.

Ample Patience - More Than Ample Pleasure

I didn't know what to expect when I played Barbara Garriel's new "Ample Patience" on my car CD player, but it only took me a few notes to be hooked! I fell in love with the songs, the music, the arrangements and with the singer! As I listened to each of the 14 tracks, I found myself driving with the radio turned up and a big smile on my face. "Ample Patience" has a place of honor among my CD collection.
