Gareth Flowers, trumpets and electronics
Josh Frank, trumpets and electronics
The Batteries Duo freshman EP, Les Amusements, is truly a product of 21st century music making. While experimenting with semi-abstract form and flow, the music features beautiful arrangements of trumpet playing weaved into shimmering electronic textures. Since both musicians (Gareth Flowers and Josh Frank) studied at The Juilliard School, Les Amusements shows a clear influence of classical minimalist composers such as Steve Reich and David Lang. Combining this minimalist influence with the modern art of sampling, the duo creates their rich and electronically tinged compositions. With a wide palate of colors, emotions and sounds, Les Amusements is dynamic and expressive at it's core.
