Album Notes

"Hello, I'm Beth. I write because when my hand is moving over a page, my soul drips out. It seems to be the only way. You might find me plucking the guitar on a hillside or in a coffee shop downtown, maybe fireside. I play because harmony and melody are simply good. I sing because it slows the hurricane, and I can pluck out what some pleasure or ache may be. The songs I write are honest and are pulled from a respect for genuine love and uncomfortable simplicity. I aim to use music as an instrument of hope, peace, and maybe some stitching for the heart."

'Thanks for listening"

Not enough words in the vocabulary to explain the emotions this album brings out in me!! In the age of manufactured bubble gum music. This album takes a step above and beyond the normal sounds I hear. I like when people tap into my thoughts and make me think. And at the same time keep my foot tapping!! Well done. Thank You!!

It’s a shame there’s only 7 songs here, because they’re all fascinating in different ways. Stylistically, there’s something for everyone: the jaunty opener of “Fallin” is followed by “Let's Pretend” which reminds me of something from the gauzy summer daze of the late 60s. There’s some loungey music and other more of a traditional country fare, while the closing track is sweet and innocent, with a bowed upright bass and simply lovely harmonies that are gone way too soon. However, this isn’t just an experiment in throwing everything against the wall and seeing what will stick; Beth has a wonderful singing voice and this EP features the brilliant production talents of Brandon Bee, a talented artist in his own right. With clean, crisp mixing, and plenty of unexpected auditory pleasures, such as the subtle violin, saxophone, or trumpet that sneak into the songs, there’s 7 wonderfully distinct songs here and lots to love within each of them. This is rich music that you’ll want to keep on “repeat”.

Sitting in my study ... letting Beth Whitney music wash over me ... this is way more than wonderful. It's beautiful, lyrical, and makes me profoundly happy. What could be better? Thanks, and a hearty well done to Beth, Aaron, and all the musicians, engineers and producers of this wonderful EP. So, when are you coming to Montana?
