Album Notes

The debut EP from Los Angeles singer-songwriter Billy Rivera. Produced by guitar legend Bernie Larsen, 21 unveils a collection of sublime melodies and introspective lyrics, and features an ethereal guest vocal from Beth Hirsch (Air, Wasis Diop, Jakatta).

Billy spent his formative years locking chords composed by Mendolssohn, Handel, Mozart, and Lauridsen in the halls of LA's Hamilton Academy of Music. While his influences are wide-ranging—from folk to shoegaze to electronic to alt. country to hip hop—his musical altar always has a female muse (Elizabeth Fraser, Harriet Wheeler, Amel Larrieux) as its centerpiece.

“Billy Rivera has an impressive knack for weaving accessible melodies into a gentle and haunting sound that assumes a reasonable degree of intelligence among his listeners . . . an artist who treats pop music punters with respect.” – Larry Flick (Sirius XM radio)

"Billy's art, whatever form it may take (music, film, photography), has a 'camp' sensibility, but goes beyond into more challenging territory." – Pepper Luboff (T, Toe & Shady Inc.)

"One of the best male vocalists to emerge from LA's bustling music scene"– Liam Fraser (Oil Of Truth Records)
