The occasion of the new 20th release marks the bands 20 year together. The new project contains some of the bands most interesting historic ballads and instrumentals yet. Many of the songs were written in the early 1700s. The album was recorded live in studio and features fourteen songs in all. As a special treat, band member Patrick Michael Karnahan wrote three original songs for the album. The band goal was to get back to their traditional roots while embracing the acoustic sound that the fans love.
This new CD also features guest artists Mic Gillette of “Tower Of Power” on Cornet and Trombone, and Margie Butler from ‘Golden Bough’ on Irish Harp. Both performers joined the band on two new original songs dedicated to Jazz Greats - Bix Beiderbecke and Tommy Dorsey. With the addition of American Jazz and Celtic instrumentation, the last two songs on the album become the cornerstone of what the Black Irish Sound is all about!
Hailing from the historic Gold Rush Country of America, the five member Black Irish Band of twenty years, have a musical style that is as timeless as the rugged landscape of the west, a tribute to the people whose lives were spent building the world we now take for granted. The band has a large compliment of traditional maritime and railroad music, as well as ethnic tunes in their repertoire. They excel at Irish & Scottish, Italian, and American folk music with an assortment of original songs and traditional western ballads. The bands musical style captures the spirit of the immigrants of this land, the men and women who tamed the Wild West.
