This genuinely unique vision of MC/Painter Doug Hoffman (aka Boxguts), and Producer/DJ Will Taubin is “MUTILATOR”. An album baring NO resemblance to the currently overabundant cliche cookie-cutter style of hip-hop, typically drowned out by mediocre mic skills combined with predictable repetitive beats. The album is indeed a brilliant work of it's own. Boxguts delivers complex world melting visual descriptions with a twisted illustrative poetic structure that travels over ever-changing epic labyrinths of sound crafted by Will Taubin, from obscure milk crate findings, relevant sound bytes from random sources, scratches, live instrumentation, and dirty synth phrases.
Boxguts opens a vivid portal to a bent reality that is continuously rebuilt, inverted, and destroyed by nature and its opposing forces through a seemingly endless exploding universe.
Will Taubin compliments Boxguts’s twisted depiction with multi-layered audio galaxies where harmony and dissonance flow into each other like streams of constantly evolving energy to create a high-powered balance, without sounding forced or unnatural throughout the album’s entirety of 17 tracks.
Mutilator pays tribute to the lost hip-hop tradition of originality with freshness in style and undeniable creativity. Featuring guest appearence vocals from I AM MANY(formally Many Styles), and Chief.
