Album Notes

"9.0...Full of raw, transcendent music that does not flinch when facing horror, frailty, or nudity, this record is chasing big fish, and at times, it chases them like some of the best fishermen working today." - Mike Wood, Prefix Mag
"...shaping up to be one of the best albums of the year." - Owl & Bear
"He's one of the most promising new talents in town. - Michael Brodeur, The Boston Phoenix.
"…the endearing terseness of Texas folk-rock enigma Jandek." - Nick Keppler, Fairfield County Weekly.
"Your Body Is Your Soul is a brave little album." - The Lemur Blog.
"....'Holy Holy Little Fist' is probably the best song I've heard this year" - GAFFA (Denmark).
Boy Without God is the solo project of 23-year-old Boston native Gabriel Birnbaum, who at this young age has already been part of the
violent power-electronics of Catholic Skin, the saxophone fronted spazz-rock of The Abraham Lincoln Brigade, blog-buzz darlings Drug Rug, Virgin Records signings Eli Reed and campfire singalong folk-pop group The Tiny Tornadoes. Since 2006, Gabriel has shifted his focus to his solo-songwriting under the name Boy Without God, releasing six home-recorded EPs and two full-lengths. In the summer of 2008, Gabriel took a more measured approach in the creation of his latest album Your Body Is Your Soul, applying his everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach to a higher fidelity sound and more carefully considered, highly literate songs. Focusing on the important things in life (sex, love, death), Gabriel's coarse, Cohen-style baritone delivers both quick-witted, acoustic love songs ("If You," "Missiles of Light") and turbulent meditations on human inadequacy ("Holy Holy Little Fist," "Someone I Love").
