This thirty-piece brass and percussion ensemble is comprised of musicians from around the metro Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia region, and includes members of the premier Military Bands. It is an all-volunteer, registered non-profit organization. The band has rehearsed regularly since its founding in early 2008 by member/manager Christopher Dennard.
Brass Of The Potomac is committed to promoting the British-style brass band sound and repertoire, and has performed for a wide variety of venues including community arts series, sacred church concerts, and in early 2010 at the U.S. Army Tuba Euphonium Conference as a featured ensemble.
Stephen Bulla is the principal conductor of Brass Of The Potomac. A graduate of Boston's Berklee College of Music, he has served for nearly three decades as Chief Arranger to The President's Own U.S. Marine Band and White House Orchestra. He is in demand as a clinician with all-state bands around the country, and is a frequent adjudicator for the North American Brass Band Association.
His commissioned concert works are performed and recorded internationally. The Dutch, British, Swiss, and New Zealand brass band contesting organizations have all commissioned test pieces from his pen.
