Brian Keith Wallen is an Indiana singer, songwriter, musician, and entertainer. But none of these abilities are the most important thing. The highest priority for Brian is being an artist; which he says is, simply put, "all of these things together". This has been the story of Brian’s life, and the thread that binds all of his experiences together.
Within a few months of receiving his first guitar at age 10, he immediately began performing at as many local venues as possible. By age 11, Brian was writing songs. And by the time he hit age 13, he was recording in his home studio, working on project after project, and selling CD’s to his fans.
Four years and fourteen CD releases later, Brian Keith Wallen is still writing songs and releasing CD’s. The latest is "The Way", released on April 10, 2010. Here's what Brian has to say about this project. "My goal all along has been to come up with a collection of songs that I really believe in. I wanted to be able to go out and perform every song on an album with passion. It's taken some time, but I'm finally there with this project. I have a real, personal connection with all of these songs, and they are all inspired by experiences I've had, or people I've met. This is a new direction for me, and I'm looking forward to exploring it and sharing it with as many people as I can."
Brian produced and engineered “The Way”, in addition to writing all the songs on the album, and playing all the instruments. From the piano tinged opener, “Deliver Me”, to the electric guitar driven “Still Be Home” and the folk influenced “Where The Answer Is”, there is much musical diversity to be found; but the blues can be heard somewhere in every song, whether it's in the slide guitar that reverberates throughout, or the soulful vocals that serve to define the album.
At 18 years old, Brian Keith Wallen may not be all the way there yet. But one thing is certain. He is getting closer all the time, and as he says in the title track of the new album, trying to "follow the Way".
