Album Notes

Introducing Bright Common and their first album, Pearl, which has been described by one listener as “spare and spacious....intelligent without being too much in its head, an album that brings to mind REM and Tom Waits and Lucinda Williams; something rootsy and very American. It's quirky and real at the same time--not as if it's trying to be cool and off-beat, but just as though that's the way it authentically has to be.”

Bright Common is comprised of John Bisbee (vocals, acoustic guitar, banjo, dulcimer, harmonica), Anthony Gatti (drums), Cassie Jones (keyboards and back-up vocals), and Mark Wethli (bass).

Also contributing to the album in various capacities are Sam Bisbee, Sterling Black, Gideon Bok, Courtney Brecht, Peter Coviello, Al Fisher, Kathryn Jacoby, Neil Lamb, Wade Kavanaugh, Jandy Porter, Moira Greenspun Tarmy, and Ben Trout.

Pearl was recorded by Bright Common at The Poker Palace, Brunswick, Maine and Charlie Lane at Maine Soundstage, Brunswick, Maine; mixed, with additional recording, by Neil Lamb at Neil Lamb Studios, Brunswick, Maine; and mastered by Adam Ayan, Gateway Mastering, Portland, Maine.
