Album Notes

Bronz the band were one of the first British Rock acts (N.W.B.H.M.) New Wave of British Heavy Metal, to hit America in the mid 80’s, touring their début album “ Taken By Storm ”. Fronted at that time by Max Bacon on lead vocals and playing to 30,000 seater stadiums.

The first album went on to sell well over 200,000 albums worldwide which all helped to secure them a solid reputation as a British hard rock band to be reckoned with. The single “Send Down An Angel” featured heavily on the then fledgling M.T.V. in America and across Europe, with a video featuring the actress Emma Thompson. It reached a top 10 position in the U.K. rock singles charts and a top 20 in the rock album charts.

Despite the sudden demise of the original line up, founder member Shaun Kirkpatrick found himself in a very enviable position. With top producer Max Norman (Ozzy Ozbourne’s producer) and full record company backing set out to completely re-define the sound of the band and with an exciting new line up record a second album.

Recorded in London’s Roundhouse and Power Plant studios, "Carried by the Storm" is a definitive British rock album of its era.

Metalville / April 2010:

a new album….it is kind of ….more technically speaking an old new album.

Has been kicking round on this veteran Brit AOR outfit’s dusty shelves since the company due to release it went t*ts up in the mid 80s, (there is a give away to this in the band pic), the eleven tunes have matured like sacred whiskey hops to be tasted by those still with the loyalest of musical tongues in 2010. Ballsy throughout with an unexpectedly American sound, the London 5 piece deliver a comparatively raw style with classic era-associable production.

The instant raunch vibes of numbers like ‘Can’t live Without Your Love’, ’Carried….’, ’There’s A Reason’, ’When The Lights Die Down’, ’One More Time’, ’Tell Her’ and ’Two Silhouettes’ got the disc onto its second run without me needing to touch the play button. Short no -nonsense solo licks and welcome appearances by sax add the completing blocks to a towering musical structure that kindly stands up after over two and a half decades awaiting completion.

With live work and possible reformation for a brand new disc circling the rumour mill, these chaps may be about to enjoy a second coming of immensely sudden and successful proportions.

Awesome!

9.5/10
