“Doubts and Donuts” is an alternative/modern rock album with driving guitars and funk inspired grooves. More thoughtful than angry, Bryan’s second album focuses more on observational humor than rage. Sarcasm and anger still have a prominent place, but absurdity and silliness fuel the subject matter and melodies. Loud electric guitars, acoustic drums, and electric bass are the main instruments with an occasional appearance of a 12 sting acoustic guitar. Written primarily for a 3 piece rhythm section there are layered guitar parts and lots of harmonies to add depth to the catchy melodies. “Doubts and Donuts” features songs about politics, germs, raising kids, executives, celebrities, musicians, questioning beliefs, and donuts. They are meant not to be taken too seriously. If you like Weezer, The FooFighters, and South Park, this album is for you.
