What is Residual Soul?

It is what remains after one tries to explain what one is, what one feels, what one desires, what one thinks though all other mediums. If it were easy, or even possible, to express all of these things adequately with only words, symbols, tears, or touch, then these albums would instead be books, or a protest, or pitiful pouring of tears, or a sublime embrace of a loved one.

No, what remains is music. Music which is the only means to adequately express It all. So these albums, at times, are and are not premeditated. Are and are not clear in meaning. It is, however, all intended as is.

Colin Steeksma	Slightly biased but long time musician Review Before going any further I will admit I am the artists father and thusly and justly proud, but I am also a long time musician and I know what I like and detest. I am very critical about music. Bryan's musicianship on the guitar constantly amazes me (instrumental songs form the latter half of this Album). His production ability is scary, s it is all done in house- literally. If I had one criticism I would say there is no way to pin the overall style down as he refuses to be pigeonholed. This makes for a GREAT experience for the listener, especiallly those feeling gypped and jaded by pop radio and current music trends, but for the "marketplace" (meaning others who would sell Bryan's music to make money) it will be a detraction. So this is DEFINITELY one for the fans and for people who like a varied assortment of genres and styles. AS to the songs themselves, the first 13 or so are vocal songs and the rest are instrumental. The styles range from heavy metal, rock ballads, instrumental shred god on speed, experimental, transcendental, and elemental.... My personal faves: I am the Satellite the clock that spins Running for the thrill Breathe easy child The Galaxy's elegant cinema Philidelphiac Optical radar Brules Megan Speed of lint and just for fun... The Giant Song and Bathroom Star Bryan is an amazing talent that I believe one day will be recognized and he will be another star in the galaxy's elegant cinema. Gina J	CD and tour Brilliant! I agree with the other reviewers. I could listen to this collection every day and hear something different each time. SO diverse!!! I can't imagine how he would pull it off live, but would love to see him try! Alexander Øvestad	I'll keep it short... ... because I feel I don't have much to add after writing about "Listen to Reason". Most albums that are good have a few memorable songs, a few less memorable songs that are still good, and a few songs that don't really add much to the mix. You extremely rarely get to listen to albums that feature only memorable and good songs. This album is different, and I realise that this can easily be dismissed as a cliché, but every single song on this album, without exception, could be released as a single. 31 singles. That's insane, 'nuff said. From a marketing perspective, ignoring the quality of the songs, it has 31 songs and 2.5 hours of music for the price of a cheap T-shirt. My Name	Just Curious This guy's obviously a genius. As much as I playfully hate genius' because they're born that way and no matter how hard one tries they can never be on the same level. I have to admit he's frightening. This entire CD doesn't have a single second of half assness. I hope this guy's making a living at it full time because if not then this is one fu$#ed up world.
